The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture Zuru (FUAZ) branch in Kebbi State, has commenced a two-week warning strike over the non-implementation of demands contained in the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement.
The warning strike commenced at midnight of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum issued by the union to the university’s governing council.
Confirming the development, the FUAZ-ASUU Chairman, Danbauchi Ishaq Sanchi, said the union was compelled to embark on the strike after receiving no positive response or concrete action from the university council on the issues raised.
In a statement signed by Sanchi, the union said, “After the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum issued by the Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture Zuru (FUAZ) branch, to the University Council over the non-implementation of the FGN-ASUU signed agreement, 2025.
“Regrettably, as of today, 18th August, 2026, we are yet to receive any positive response or concrete action from the University Council towards addressing the issues raised in the agreement.”
The union also said all academic activities had been suspended, including lectures and tutorials, examinations and continuous assessments, supervision of projects and theses, as well as Senate and Faculty Board meetings and other academic-related activities.
