Darkoo – THAT GIRL! (ft. Asake)

Jeffrey Akonedo

Follow along with the words of the lyrics for “THAT GIRL!” by Darkoo featuring  Asake.

The refrain is a declaration. “That girl, ooh, that girl, ooh.” Darkoo is not just naming a person; she’s claiming them. The chorus builds on that claim: “This girl is one in a million / That girl, one in a million / Darling, tell me what you’re really on.” The narrator is trying to understand the object of her attention, to find out what makes her different.

The first verse deepens the focus: “Attention, you have my attention / Come over to my direction, girl.” The narrator is direct, not playing games. The line “I might be the one to make a difference in your life, girl” is a promise. “You do all the right things to me, can I make you mine, girl?” The question is direct, simple, and it doesn’t require a complicated answer.

Asake’s verse adds a different texture: “Ọmọ, girl, mo like bo ṣe fine normally / Baby, girl, e be you wey I like.” It’s a direct address. The verse moves from attraction to promise: “Me and you together, we go dey all fine, huh” is a promise of stability and peace. The closing line of his verse, “Let’s make a sweet connection, uh,” frames the song as something more than a flirtation—it’s a request for something lasting. The outro circles back to the opening question: “I might be the one to make a difference in your life, girl / You do all the right things to me, can I make you mine, girl?” The narrator is still asking the same question. The track doesn’t answer it, but it doesn’t need to.
