Mrs. Hakama Sidi-Ali, Acting Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been named Nigeria’s 2026 Spokesperson of the Year at the 6th National Spokespersons Awards held in Abuja.
The honour marks a historic hat-trick for Sidi-Ali, who previously won the Outstanding Spokesperson – Banking Sector award in 2024 and 2025. She becomes the first communications professional to progress from two consecutive sector-specific wins to the overall Spokesperson of the Year title.
Sidi-Ali’s recognition comes three years after she made history as the first female spokesperson in the CBN’s 66-year history, following her appointment in 2023 by CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso.
The awards jury, chaired by Professor Saudat Abdulbaqi, said the 2026 honour was based on measurable impact, innovation, campaign reach and quality of evidence. Her work in strengthening the CBN’s communications architecture, including Monetary Policy Committee briefings, stakeholder engagement, investor relations, media management and international advocacy, was specifically recognised.
The CBN’s communications campaign was also a finalist at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards, while Sidi-Ali earlier received the African Iconic Female Spokesperson of the Year award.
According to the organisers, the 2026 awards attracted 171 nominations, with 30 finalists selected across 15 categories after a rigorous evaluation process.
The National Spokespersons Awards, organised by Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential and Spokespersons Digest, also recognised professionals and institutions across government, corporate and non-profit sectors.
