NASD Index Rises 1.68% to 4,488 Points

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange rose by 1.68 per cent on Monday, September 7, with the NASD Security Index (NSI) increasing by 73.98 points to 4,488.00 points from 4,414.02 points, and the market capitalisation adding N44.4 billion to close at N2.694 trillion compared with last Friday’s value of N2.649 trillion.

This outcome was influenced by the gains recorded by three securities, which outweighed the N3.50 loss posted by NASD Plc, closing at N31.50 per share versus the previous closing price of N35.00 per share.

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc gained N9.13 yesterday to close at N100.43 per unit versus N91.30 per unit, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc appreciated by 10 Kobo to N170.00 per share from N169.90 per share, and Food Concepts Plc improved by 1 Kobo to N2.41 per unit from N2.40 per unit.

During the trading day, the volume of securities exchanged by investors soared by 131.4 per cent to 385,170 units from the previous session’s 166,461 units, and the value of securities expanded by 50.8 per cent to N18.0 million from N11.9 million, while the number of deals slumped by 8.8 per cent to close at 21 deals versus 23 deals.

Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) Plc ended the day as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units worth N8.4 billion, followed by Infrastructure Credit Guarantee (Infracredit) Plc with 2.3 billion units sold for N6.5 billion, and CSCS Plc with 81.3 million units exchanged for N5.9 billion.

GNI Plc also closed the session as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units transacted for N8.4 billion, followed by Infracredit Plc with 2.3 billion units valued at N6.5 billion, and Resourcery Plc with 1.1 billion units traded for N415.7…
