Nigeria’s Economic Management Team (EMT) met in Abuja and approved the establishment of a committee to harmonise macroeconomic assumptions across fiscal and monetary institutions, a key step towards improving policy coordination, strengthening budget implementation, and enhancing economic outcomes.

The Team also reviewed key economic indicators, including 4.43% real GDP growth in Q2 2026, approximately 17% growth in H1 2026 in US dollar terms, external reserves exceeding $54 billion, the highest level in 18 years, and Nigeria’s reclassification to Frontier Market status by FTSE Russell.

The meeting further assessed agriculture’s role in achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy ambition and reviewed preparations for hosting CANEX 2026 and IATF 2027.

These milestones reflect continued efforts to strengthen economic management, drive sustainable growth, attract investment, and position Nigeria for greater competitiveness on the global stage.
