FCT, Abuja – Former Ekiti State Governor has compared African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s fuel subsidy proposal to the controversial Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general election.

Legit.ng reports that Atiku said he would bring back the petrol subsidy if he wins the 2027 election.

Fayemi said both are political tools rather than genuine policy solutions.

As reported by Vanguard, Fayemi made the comments during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, September 7, 2026, weighing in on the growing debate around fuel subsidy policy and Atiku’s position.

“My take on that is that Atiku’s proposal of subsidy is politically equivalent to our own Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023. It’s a political strategy. It’s not an economic construct,” Fayemi said.
