The controversy began after Erigga took to X on Wednesday to acknowledge artistes who built their careers without financial support or wealth from their families.

“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and have to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.

Davido, who was born into a wealthy family, responded to the post while defending musicians who come from privileged backgrounds.

Quoting Erigga’s post, the Grammy-nominated singer wrote in Pidgin: “No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top. Comot here with that your useless motivation. Imbecile.”
