Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has backed Seyi Tinubu as a potential president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), describing him as a young leader who understands the expectations of Nigerians and could bring a new direction to the country’s football administration.
Martins made the remarks during an interview with former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel on The Obi One Podcast, where he called for younger leadership with a deeper understanding of football and the challenges confronting the Nigerian game.

“I think Seyi Tinubu can be the president of NFF. He’s young and understands what Nigerians want. He’s not the president yet, but he’s making efforts,” Martins said.
Martins calls for younger leadership
The 41-year-old former Nigeria international said the country’s football administration needs younger leaders who can connect with a new generation and understand the evolving demands of the sport.
While acknowledging that Seyi Tinubu does not currently hold the NFF presidency, Martins said his efforts in football could position him for a leadership role in the future.
His comments come as Nigerian football enters a period of major administrative change following the resignations of NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and eight members of the federation’s Executive Committee.
