Terra Launches Commercial Arm for Security Systems – Innovation Village

Nigerian defence-tech company Terra Industries is expanding beyond government and military contracts with the launch of a commercial division focused on selling its autonomous security systems to privately owned infrastructure operators.

The new division will target companies operating power plants, pipelines, mines, ports and refineries across Africa, the Gulf, South America and South Asia.

Terra says these infrastructure operators face significant losses from theft, sabotage, organised crime and operational inefficiencies. Its autonomous air and ground systems are designed to provide perimeter security, detect threats and conduct large-scale inspections, with operations coordinated through its proprietary ArtemisOS platform.

“Government and military work will always be central to Terra,” said Nathan Nwachuku, co-founder and CEO of Terra Industries. “But the commercial division gives us a constant flywheel of partnerships across industries, and it makes us a stronger business because it puts our technology to work for the companies actually building infrastructure across the Global South.”

Terra hires former Palantir executive to lead commercial division

To lead the new business, Terra has appointed Todd Stiefler as Director of Commercial.

Stiefler joins Terra with experience building enterprise businesses across technology, government and defence. He previously served as Vice President, Enterprise at wearable technology company WHOOP, where he led business-to-business growth across government, defence and corporate wellness accounts.

Before WHOOP, Stiefler worked in business development at Palantir, where Terra says he helped build go-to-market teams for Apollo and FedStart, programmes focused on defence technology and dual-use startups.
