A video from the burial ceremony of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has emerged online, capturing an emotional account from his younger sister about the series of losses the family has experienced over the years.
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after battling stage 4 cancer. His death sparked widespread mourning across the Nigerian entertainment industry, with colleagues, friends and fans paying tribute to the respected actor.
The veteran actor was buried on Monday, August 24, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State. The funeral attracted several prominent figures in Nollywood, including Jide Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Muyideen Oladapo, Kazeem Adeoti, Dele Odule, Mr Latin, Ireti Osayemi, Fathia Balogun, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Toyosi Adesanya and Saje Tiologa, among others.
During the burial service, however, Ogogo’s younger sister delivered an emotional speech in Yoruba, where she recounted the painful history of deaths within their family.
According to her, the family had experienced a pattern of tragedies which she described as “Ogun Idile,” a term she associated with a generational family battle from their father’s side in Ilaro.
She clarified that she was not accusing witches or wizards of being responsible for Ogogo’s death. Instead, she described what the family had endured as a longstanding struggle that had affected several members of the family.
