Ten days into the life of Ayra Starr’s Heaven Baby, the song has done nearly everything a global crossover single is supposed to do on its own.
Since Ayra Starr dropped her third album Starrgirl on August 14, the ZAYN-assisted duet has climbed to No. 2 on Apple Music Nigeria and peaked at No. 3 on Spotify Nigeria. Globally, it drew more than 100,000 TikTok uses in its first 48 hours, pulled 790,000 Spotify streams on its first full day of release, and has since posted a peak Spotify day of 937,721 streams.
It has already debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official British Asian Music Chart, entered the UK Afrobeats Songs Chart, and charted at No. 158 on the German Spotify Chart on its first day with more than 77,000 streams in that market alone. It is Ayra Starr’s most high-profile international feature to date, pairing her with one of the most recognisable pop voices of the last decade.
What it has not yet had, based on visible rollout activity from Mavin Records and Republic Records, is the full-scale international campaign a song with these early markers ordinarily receives.
There is no official music video yet. Only a lyric video sits on YouTube ten days in. There has been no publicly reported major US or UK radio push, no visible coordinated global playlist campaign on the scale of what Rush received in late 2022, and no announced TV performance to attach the song to. Some of that work may well be in motion privately. Publicly, the signals so far read closer to an album-cut rollout than to the launch of a genuine crossover single.
That the song has reached multiple international charts inside two weeks, largely on the strength of ZAYN’s audience pull and organic TikTok momentum, only sharpens the point. The global interest base for “Heaven Baby” is already there. What is not yet publicly visible is the marketing…
