FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that there is no formidable opposition ahead of the 2027 general election, saying his political mission is to make opposition figures including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi uncomfortable.
Wike made the remarks on Friday in Abuja while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing projects in the Federal Capital Territory.
“When you say opposition, I have told you, I don’t know what you call opposition. I say there is no opposition now,” Wike said.
The minister was reacting to the recent visit of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke to President Bola Tinubu and later to Wike in Abuja. Wike described the meetings as evidence of an emerging “Rainbow Coalition” of politicians from different parties supporting Tinubu ahead of 2027.
“What happened last night is meeting to rebuild a larger Rainbow Coalition. And he (Adeleke) is supporting Mr President. He’s in a different party; I’m supporting Mr President, and I’m in a different party. So, it’s a larger Rainbow Coalition,” Wike said.
He added that more politicians could join the coalition in the coming weeks.
“And the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see a larger Rainbow Coalition in this country supporting Mr President,” he said.
