Nigeria has awarded 37 oil and gas blocks to successful bidders in its 2025 Licensing Round, marking a major milestone in the country’s efforts to attract investment, expand exploration and unlock new hydrocarbon reserves.The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) announced that 31 companies emerged winners after a competitive commercial bid conference held in Abuja. The licensing exercise attracted significant investor interest, with about 200 bids submitted by 143 companies seeking access to Nigeria’s upstream assets.The 2025 round offered 50 oil and gas blocks across different terrains, including onshore, shallow-water, deep offshore and frontier basins.
