Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has reportedly rejected the club’s latest contract offer, fuelling speculation over a possible record-breaking move to Arsenal.
According to talkSPORT, the Brazil international’s future remains uncertain as discussions continue between the player, his representatives and Real Madrid over a new long-term deal.
While Vinicius is said to prefer staying at the Santiago Bernabéu, the report claims Real Madrid could consider selling the 26-year-old if the parties fail to reach an agreement, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires next year.
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to make the winger the highest-paid player in the club’s history in an attempt to lure him to north London.
The report added that Real Madrid are seeking around €170 million for the Brazilian if he leaves this summer, while Arsenal are reluctant to exceed €150 million.
Despite entering the final year of his contract, Vinicius remains one of Europe’s most valuable players, making any potential transfer one of the biggest deals in football history.
