Real Warri Pikin cancels Warri show, rejects tribal, political divisions

Comedian and actress Real Warri Pikin has announced the cancellation of her Warri show, citing “unfortunate divisions” in the state.

The entertainer made the announcement via her official Instagram account, expressing disappointment that division had emerged in a situation where she believed there should be unity.

“It is deeply disappointing that, at this stage in our society, we are still confronted with division where there should be unity,” she said.

Real Warri Pikin said the show, which was scheduled to hold in Warri in the coming weeks, had been cancelled because of circumstances arising from the divisions.

“It is therefore with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my Warri show, which was scheduled to take place in a few weeks, due to circumstances arising from the unfortunate divisions currently at play,” she said.

However, she stressed that the cancellation would not change how she sees herself or the reach of her brand.

“But I need to make something very clear. The Real Warri Pikin brand is bigger than where I was born,” she said.

The comedian said she refused to be defined by her local government, the backgrounds of her parents or geographical boundaries.

“I am not limited by my local government. I am not defined only by where my father comes from or where my mother comes from.

“I represent every local government in Delta State. I represent Delta State. I represent Nigeria. I represent Africa. And as a woman, I represent women across tribes, races and borders,” she said.

Real Warri Pikin added that she would not allow her calling to be reduced to “geography, tribe or politics”, saying she remained committed to contributing positively to her state, country and continent.
