Ondo APC moves to reconcile aggrieved members after NASS primaries

As part of efforts to reconcile aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State following the recent National Assembly primary elections, the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) on Tuesday visited former Deputy Governor Otunba Omolade Oluwateru to seek his support in promoting unity and mobilising backing for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The delegation, led by the Ondo State APC Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, appealed to the former deputy governor to use his influence and political experience to help calm frayed nerves among party members dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries.

Speaking during the visit, Kolawole described the former deputy governor as a seasoned politician whose wealth of experience remained invaluable to the party and the state.

According to him, the APC leadership recognised that disagreements were inevitable after party primaries, hence the establishment of a reconciliation committee to engage aggrieved members and restore peace ahead of the general elections.

“We are glad to have Your Excellency in the APC at a time like this. The state chapter and the government need your experience and support to pilot affairs.

“You have been lending support on different fronts, and we are using this opportunity to urge you to do more for our state.

“We also enjoin you to assist in reaching out to members who are visibly aggrieved as a result of the outcome of the primaries,” Kolawole said.

Responding, Oluwateru commended the party leadership for what he described as a proactive step in setting up the reconciliation committee, saying the move would strengthen unity within the APC.
