Super Eagles and former Crystal Palace midfielder Christantus Uche is set to miss the entire 2026/27 season after suffering a serious right-knee injury, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian midfielder sustained the injury during Getafe’s pre-season friendly against Monaco after a heavy challenge from Monaco defender Christian Mawissa.
Uche initially left the pitch on a stretcher, with early examinations suggesting he had suffered a severe bruise to the joint. However, further tests on Friday delivered a far more serious diagnosis.

According to Diario AS, an MRI scan confirmed that Uche has suffered multiple injuries to his right knee, with severe damage to both the ligaments and meniscus.
The 23-year-old is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days before beginning what is expected to be a lengthy rehabilitation process.

The injury represents a major setback for Uche, who had been hoping to make a fresh start at Getafe after a difficult spell in English football.
