Tax Ombud, Kaduna Partners to Boost Revenue, Create Predictable Tax Environment for Investors
The Kaduna State Government has moved to strengthen its revenue base and improve the business climate by partnering with the Office of the Tax Ombud to ensure fair and efficient tax administration.
Governor Uba Sani announced the partnership on Wednesday during a meeting with the Tax Ombud, Dr. John Nwabueze, in Kaduna.
The Governor said a fair, efficient and transparent tax system was essential to the state’s economic competitiveness and its drive to attract investment.
He noted that protecting taxpayer rights and providing clear channels for resolving disputes would encourage voluntary compliance and ultimately boost internally generated revenue.
Dr. Nwabueze said the Office of the Tax Ombud was committed to working with Kaduna to resolve taxpayer complaints and create certainty for businesses operating in the state.
“The Office of the Tax Ombud is committed to working with Kaduna State to strengthen public confidence in the tax system and promote an environment where businesses can operate with greater certainty,” he said.
He explained that the Ombud provides free mediation and alternative dispute resolution for taxpayers who feel unfairly treated by revenue authorities, thereby reducing litigation and improving compliance.
The Tax Ombud also called for closer collaboration between the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, taxpayers and his office to drive taxpayer education and fairness.
