Muhoroni Sugar Factory restarts with daily cane capacity of 1,400 tonnes

Muhoroni Sugar Company is back to milling about 1,400 tonnes of cane a day after repairs to ageing machinery, with farmers now receiving payment within a week. The restart follows the 30-year lease of the state-owned mill to a private operator in 2025


The factory fully resumed milling on June 6, 2026 following extensive repairs and a subsequent six-week targeted maintenance shutdown (Image: Files)
