Northwest Commission Backs Navy Logistics College to Expand Skills Training

The Northwest Development Commission (NWDC) has expressed readiness to partner with the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa, to support human capital development and infrastructure in the Northwest region.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Abdulrashid Yusuf Safana, on Thursday.

According to the statement, a delegation from the College led by the Commandant, Commodore Abubakar A. Madawaki, visited NWDC in Kano to discuss collaboration in education, skills development, and infrastructure support.

Welcoming the delegation, the Managing Director of NWDC, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, commended the Navy for establishing the institution in the region and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to partnerships that strengthen institutions the region.

“We appreciate you coming to brief us early. The establishment of the Navy Logistics College in Dawakin Tofa is a strategic asset for the Northwest. As NWDC, we are interested in any collaboration that will expand access to skills, create opportunities for our youth, and support institutions that serve the region,” Ma’aji said.

Commodore Madawaki said the College relocated to Kano in 2021 following the expansion of the Navy and the separation of finance and logistics training.

He explained that the College trains naval logisticians for officers and ratings and currently runs four categories of courses for each group.

These include the Senior Navy Logistics and Management Course, Project Officer Application Course, Logistics Officers Basic Course, and Sub-Technical Officers Course.
