Google has launched Gemini Enterprise for Legal, expanding its AI platform for law firms as technology companies compete to automate increasingly complex legal work.
Google is stepping deeper into the legal technology market with the launch of Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a new version of its enterprise AI platform designed specifically for lawyers and legal teams.
The offering combines specialised AI agents, legal-focused workflows and secure connections to existing legal software and research platforms. Google says the system is intended to help law firms handle both routine administrative tasks and more complex legal work, allowing lawyers to spend more time on higher-value matters while maintaining control over sensitive information.
The launch places Google alongside a growing group of major technology and AI companies competing for a larger share of the legal industry’s expanding demand for artificial intelligence. Anthropic has expanded its Claude platform into legal services, while OpenAI is developing its own legal capabilities. Microsoft, Palantir and Perplexity are also pursuing opportunities in legal AI.
Built for Legal Work
Gemini Enterprise for Legal is built on Google’s wider Gemini Enterprise platform, which launched for business customers in 2025. The legal version adds specialised capabilities intended for workflows that would normally require significant amounts of lawyer and support-staff time.
These include legal brief drafting, citation verification, contract review and negotiation, regulatory monitoring, data-subject access request responses, drafting non-disclosure agreements and preparing documents for motions to seal.
