Fury hints Anthony Joshua fight is off, calls for Usyk trilogy

Tyson Fury has claimed Anthony Joshua is backing out of their highly anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown and has challenged Oleksandr Usyk to a third fight if the proposed bout falls through.

Fury and Joshua have been in negotiations for a long-awaited clash, but the former heavyweight champion has grown increasingly frustrated by the lack of an official confirmation, recently branding his fellow Briton a “coward”.

The two former heavyweight champions are expected to meet in November, although the venue has yet to be finalised.

In an expletive-laden video posted on Instagram, Fury, 38, suggested that Joshua was pulling out of the fight and said he would instead pursue a trilogy bout with Usyk.

“This will only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk,” Fury said.

Fury claimed Usyk, who has worked with Joshua’s training team, knows that Joshua is not prepared to face him.

“Oleksandr, you’re his trainer and his sensei, and you know he is… weak-minded… and that he would never fight the Gypsy King, which you have had the guts to do twice,” Fury said.

Fury has lost both of his previous fights against Usyk, who became a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.

The Briton nevertheless welcomed the prospect of settling their rivalry for a third time.

“You got the decisions last time; fair play to you. Good luck to you; let’s do it again. Let’s run it back in November,” Fury said.
