Uba Sani urges governments to patronise locally assembled Peugeot vehicles

Uba Sani, Kaduna State Governor, has called on federal and state governments to increase patronage of vehicles assembled by Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (DPAN) Limited, saying government procurement can help sustain local manufacturing, protect jobs and deepen economic activity in the automotive sector.

Sani said he would make a presentation to the National Economic Council (NEC) urging Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as state governments to patronise locally assembled vehicles as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s industrial base.

The governor made the call on Friday while unveiling the 2026 Peugeot 5008 at the DPAN factory in Kaduna.

He said stronger government patronage was critical to the survival and expansion of the automobile assembly plant, which he said had contributed to employment, skills development and economic activity in Kaduna State.

“I will make a strong presentation at the National Economic Council, urging both the federal and state governments to patronise the products of this company because that is the only way they can survive,” Sani said.

He added that the Kaduna State Government would lead by example by purchasing some of the vehicles assembled by DPAN.

“As a government, Kaduna State will order some of the vehicles, so that we can show the example for others to follow, by patronising this very important company,” he said.
