You can get away with many things in fashion when the fit is right. Clothes that pull, gape, bunch or hang awkwardly will undermine even the most expensive outfit.

Build Around Really Good Basics

You do not need fifty “essentials,” but you do need dependable clothes. Think beautifully cut trousers, a blazer that sits properly on the shoulders, flattering jeans, a crisp shirt, an easy dress and shoes you can wear repeatedly.

Spend more on the pieces that do the most work and experiment with everything else. A strong wardrobe foundation also makes trends easier to wear because you always have something simple to pair them with.
