Turkish Super Lig club Gençlerbirliği have confirmed the loan signing of Nigerian forward Victor Orakpo from Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice, completesports.com reports.
Gençlerbirliği announced the signing in statement on their official X handle on Thursday.
“Victor Orakpo Joins Our Gençlerbirliği,” the club stated.
“Our club has reached an agreement with France’s OGC Nice team for the loan transfer of 20-year-old Nigerian striker Victor Orakpo until the end of the season.
“We welcome Victor Orakpo to our family and wish him success under the red-black jersey.”
Orakpo is a product of FC Bako, before moving to the VOE Football Academy who was part of the Bayern Munich academy international network.
On 31 January 2024, he transferred to Ligue 1 club Nice until 2027. He made his senior debut with Nice as a substitute in a 2–1 Ligue 1 loss to Auxerre on 18 August 2024.

On 26 August 2024, he extended his contract with Nice until 2028 and on 2 February 2026, Orakpo joined Nancy in Ligue 2 on loan.
Gençlerbirliği was founded on 14 March 1923 by a group of students at Ankara Sultanisi (a high school), after some were excluded from the school team called “Sultani.”
In the early 1930s, Gençlerbirliği won three consecutive titles (1930–31, 1931–32, 1933–34).
They missed some seasons but returned strong in 1933–34, finishing second, then won again in 1934–35 (their fifth title). In 1936–37, they lost the title in a close race with rivals Ankaragücü.
