Premier League clubs dominated the biggest transfer deals of the 2026 summer window, with Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal among the English sides splashing huge sums to strengthen their squads.

More than €3 billion was spent on new signings across European football during the window, with Premier League clubs accounting for a significant share of the spending as they continued to flex their financial muscle in the transfer market.

Manchester City led the spending spree after becoming the first club to invest more than €500 million in a single transfer window. The champions spent €526.2 million on new arrivals while generating about €337 million from player sales to leave their net spend at €189 million.

City’s headline acquisitions included Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for €145 million, matching the British transfer record, Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for €70 million, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for €135 million and Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for €95 million.

Liverpool, meanwhile, followed up last summer’s record spending with another major investment. The Reds previously set the benchmark after spending €483 million on new players, including Florian Wirtz for €125 million and Alexander Isak for €145 million.

The scale of Liverpool’s spending has, however, attracted criticism, with club legend Jamie Carragher questioning whether the transfer window could eventually be regarded as the “worst transfer window in history”.
