Premier League clubs have smashed their single-window transfer spending record for the second consecutive season, with the total outlay in the 2026 summer window reaching almost £3.5 billion.
The unprecedented spending surge eclipsed last season’s record of £3.14 billion, underlining the Premier League’s growing financial dominance over the global transfer market.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal were among the clubs driving the spending boom, while more than half of the Premier League’s 20 clubs broke their transfer records during the window.

Several deals also crossed the £100 million mark, with Manchester City’s deadline-day signing of Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea among the biggest transfers of the summer.
Man City lead record-breaking spending
City completed the signing of the 25-year-old Argentina midfielder for £125 million, matching the British transfer record paid by Liverpool for Alexander Isak 12 months earlier.
Fernandez joined a significantly reshaped City midfield alongside England international Elliot Anderson, who arrived from Nottingham Forest for £116 million.
City also signed Senegal forward Iliman Ndiaye from Everton in a £65 million deal, taking the club’s summer spending beyond £450 million.
The heavy investment comes as City begin a new era following the departure of Pep Guardiola after a decade of unprecedented success at the Etihad Stadium.
The squad has also undergone significant changes, with Rodri joining Barcelona and long-serving players Bernardo Silva and John Stones leaving the club.
