Bowen University appoints Olapade as fifth substantive Bursar

Bowen University has appointed Mrs Folasade Adebukola Olapade as its fifth substantive Bursar, following the approval of the institution’s Governing Council at its 122nd meeting.

The university said the appointment marked “another significant milestone in Bowen’s commitment to sound financial stewardship, accountability, institutional sustainability, and excellence in administration.”

Olapade, a seasoned financial management and audit professional, brings to the position extensive experience spanning “accounting, internal audit, financial controls, compliance, and more.”

Before her appointment as Bursar, she served as Deputy Director of Internal Audit, a position she assumed in March 2024.

She had previously served as Chief Internal Auditor in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Internal Auditor and Senior Internal Auditor, following her progression through the University’s Internal Audit Unit.

According to the university, Olapade’s career at Bowen began in 2010 during her National Youth Service, when she served as a Youth Corps Member in the Internal Audit Unit.

“She was subsequently appointed as an Internal Auditor II in 2012, marking the beginning of a distinguished career of progressive responsibility and service within the University,” the statement said.

Throughout her career, she has developed expertise across critical areas of university financial administration, including budget monitoring and expenditure control, treasury and payment processes, student revenue and account auditing, payroll and salary administration, revenue and cash management, and bank reconciliation.
