The Federal Government has ordered a technical and forensic investigation into suspected energy theft and irregularities estimated at โฆ120 billion along the 132kV Ikorodu-Sagamu transmission corridor.
The probe follows the detection of discrepancies of up to 100 megawatts in electricity flows and consumption patterns over the past year.
The investigation was directed by Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, after monitoring systems deployed by the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) flagged increasingly anomalous loading and consumption patterns along the industrial corridor; one of Nigeriaโs fastest-growing manufacturing hubs.
Tegbe has called for a transparent, science-based probe to determine why the volume of electricity transmitted along the corridor far exceeds what is officially billed and accounted for by distribution companies, warning against meter tampering and data manipulation as the government moves to protect the integrity of the national grid.
