MTN targets Nigeria in Africa data centre deal – Technology Times

MTN Digital Infrastructure has identified Nigeria as one of its initial focus markets in a new partnership with a United Arab Emirates-based data centre investment platform to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence-ready digital infrastructure across Africa.

The partnership, announced by MTN Digital Infrastructure, will operate through Africa Data Hub Holding Limited, a platform established to develop and scale digital infrastructure opportunities across key African markets.

Nigeria’s inclusion among the partnership’s initial focus markets, along South Africa places the country’s expanding data centre and cloud infrastructure market at the centre of MTN’s latest digital infrastructure strategy.

The move comes as demand for cloud computing, AI workloads and data-intensive digital services continues to grow, increasing the need for resilient, scalable and locally hosted infrastructure to support Africa’s digital economy.

Nigeria emerges key market for data centres

Through the partnership, MTN Digital Infrastructure will combine its African footprint, market knowledge and infrastructure assets with the UAE-based platform’s investment, development and operational expertise in the data centre sector.

The partners intend to use Africa Data Hub Holding Limited to respond to rising demand from cloud providers, enterprises, hyperscalers and technology companies requiring reliable infrastructure to support digital and AI-enabled services.
