PENGASSAN, NUPRC Partner To Hit 3mmbopd Oil Production Target By 2030

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has pledged to collaborate with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to raise Nigeria’s crude oil production to three million barrels per day by 2030.

The newly elected President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, made the commitment on Wednesday in Abuja when he led the new leadership of the association on a visit to the corporate headquarters of the NUPRC.

Olabiyi-Agoro said the union was committed to supporting efforts to achieve the Federal Government’s production target, stressing that all stakeholders in the oil and gas industry must work together to make the ambition a reality.

He said: “The President of Nigeria has an ambition which he runs through the CCE, which is to make sure that by 2030 we are able to produce 3 million barrels per day.

“All of us have to work to make that happen. It will be our happiness to make sure that that target is actually attained.. We can assure you that we are here to collaborate. We will be very reasonable.”

He, however, said while the union remained open to negotiations and collaboration with industry regulators and employers, certain issues affecting workers’ rights would remain non-negotiable.

According to him, the right of workers to freely associate and join trade unions must be respected, while contract staffing would also receive priority attention under his administration.

“Inasmuch as we are open to negotiations, issues bordering on the rights of workers to freely associate and join the union are non-negotiable.”
