Uganda’s military chief Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba says he will run for president in 2031, five years after stepping aside from the 2026 race. At 52, he is now openly positioning himself as a successor to his father, President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled Uganda since 1986.
