Google Offers Nigerian Students Free AI Access for One Year – Innovation Village

The programme gives eligible students access to Google’s AI tools at no cost for 12 months, as the company expands its push to build AI skills among Africa’s next generation.

Google is offering students at accredited universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across Nigeria 12 months of free access to its Google AI Plus plan, giving eligible students access to advanced Gemini tools and other AI-powered learning features without paying the usual subscription cost.

The offer, valued at ₦92,400 per student, comes ahead of a new academic session and marks the second consecutive year Google has introduced a free AI subscription programme for Nigerian students. Nigeria is among 27 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa where the current offer is available. Google’s current Nigeria plans confirm that AI Plus includes higher access to Gemini, Deep Research, Gemini Notebook features and 400GB of cloud storage.

Students must verify their enrolment through SheerID to claim the offer. Those who benefited from last year’s programme can also renew their access by verifying their student status again.

What Students Will Get

The subscription gives students higher usage limits on Gemini alongside tools designed specifically for studying, research and creative work. These include Gemini Live for real-time voice conversations, Deep Research for longer academic projects, Gemini Study Notebooks, custom practice quizzes, interactive visualisations and Google Lens features that can help interpret problems, equations and diagrams.

Students will also receive 400GB of cloud storage across Google services. Google’s current AI Plus offering in Nigeria lists expanded access to Gemini models and Deep Research, along with additional study and productivity features.
