How to Speed Up Charging Your Android Phone

I get asked this a lot: “Why does my phone charge so slowly?” Most of the time, it is not a battery problem. It is a mismatch problem. Your phone, your charger, and your cable all have to agree on how much power to send, and if any one of them is holding the conversation back, you are stuck watching that percentage crawl. Here is everything I know that actually works, and nothing I am guessing at.

Use a charger that matches your phone’s real charging speed

This is the single biggest lever you have. Every Android phone has a maximum wired charging wattage set by its hardware, and using a charger below that number is the most common reason people think their phone “charges slow.”

A few real numbers to work with in the United States, Canada, the UK, and most of Europe:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 and S26 base models top out at 25W Super Fast Charging.
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra and S26 Plus support up to 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0, but only with a PPS-compatible charger and a proper cable.
  • Galaxy S26 Ultra pushes further to 60W Super Fast Charging 3.0.
  • Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro charge at up to 29W wired.
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL goes up to 39W wired, the fastest wired speed Google has shipped on a Pixel.
  • Pixel 10a supports up to 30W wired charging, but Google notes you need its own 45W USB-C wall charger to actually hit that number.

Notice the pattern. A bigger charger does not force more power into a phone that cannot accept it. If your Galaxy S25 Ultra is rated for 45W, plugging in a 100W charger will not get you a faster charge, it will just cap at 45W.
