The Super Falcons are through to the WAFCON 2026 quarterfinals! Nigeria defeated Egypt 6-2 in their final Group C fixture at WAFCON 2026 in Rabat on Wednesday 6 August, booking their place in the quarterfinals with a performance that left no doubt about what this team is capable of when they are firing. Six goals. Six different scorers. Job done.

Nigeria came into the match needing a win after losing their opening game to Malawi and edging past Zambia in their second fixture, and they got exactly that. Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring in the 21st minute, calmly converting a penalty after a VAR review confirmed a handball inside the Egyptian box. Gift Monday doubled the lead with a simple finish before Egypt pulled one back through Nadine Ghazi‘s penalty just before halftime, making it 2-1 at the break.

The second half belonged entirely to Nigeria. Substitute Uchenna Kanu restored the two-goal cushion in the 57th minute after a fine assist from Rinsola Babajide, who was outstanding throughout. Christy Ucheibe converted from the spot in the 81st minute to make it 4-1, before Ghazi struck again three minutes later to reduce the deficit to 4-2. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade added the fifth from the penalty spot in the 91st minute before setting up substitute Joy Omewa, who completed the scoring in stoppage time to seal the 6-2 victory.
