Synopsis: Kilanko, come back to the land of the living. Some mysteries run deeper than blood. Some pain cannot be spoken. Some stories must be seen to be believed. An epic tale unlike anything you have witnessed before, where pain is hidden, Sacrifice is sacred, and Mothers become deities.

Kilanko: The Invincible Child sheds light on genotype and the challenges of sickle cell. Despite its touching moments, the movie relies on drama and other elements that keep it from being the kind you watch while holding a handkerchief. Kilanko depicts a clash between Western and traditional medicine, with both genuinely seeking to address the sickle cell crisis. A mother is left with no other choice but to explore every avenue to save her child after losing six others to sickle cell.
The CGI in this movie, especially the scenes depicting the children as spirits, wasn’t impressive, but it was a step in the right direction. Actual humans, instead of CGI, should have been used in the scene where some spiritual skeletons were flogging a man. It would have been more believable. The directors should have used set design to depict the spirit world instead of CGI. Imagine a scene with fire and smoke all around, accompanied by lightning strikes at intervals.
