Airtel Africa Plc continued focus on the customer experience translated into accelerating customer base growth across all business segments as the telecommunications giant recorded earnings growth.

The company’s customer-centric strategy that it uses to overcome prevailing macroeconomic uncertainties across the continent has helped the company deliver a higher return to shareholders in the form of a bumper dividend and share appreciation.

For the quarter ended 30 June 2026, Airtel Africa’s profit after tax (PAT) increased by 27 percent to $198 million from $156 million as at June 2025.

Higher profit after tax in the current period was driven by higher operating profit partially offset by derivative and foreign exchange losses of $6 million in the current period compared to $22 million derivative and foreign exchange gains in the prior period.

The total customer base increased to 189 million, growing by 11.6% with data customers increasing by 15.5 percent to 87.3 million.

Revenue in reported currency grew by 31.0 percent to $1.85 billion in the quarter ended June 2026 from $1.41 billion the previous year.

All segments continued to see double-digit constant currency revenue growth, with mobile services revenue growing by 19.1 percent, and mobile money growing by 25.8 percent. Across mobile services, voice continued to see strong constant currency growth of 11.2 percent and data revenue grew by 27.2 percent.
