The latest global alcohol consumption data reveals the countries with the highest average alcohol intake, with Europe dominating the top of the ranking.
Romania emerges as the country with the highest alcohol consumption in the latest global ranking, with an average of 16.8 liters of pure alcohol consumed per person aged 15 and above annually.
The figures are from the latest World Health Organization (WHO) alcohol consumption data published through the World Bank and featured by Our World in Data, which shows the total alcohol consumption per person aged 15 and above, including both recorded and unrecorded alcohol consumption, while accounting for alcohol consumed by tourists.
Romania Leads Global Alcohol Consumption Ranking
Romania came first, recording 16.8 litres of pure alcohol per person, while Georgia ranked second with 14.41 litres, followed by Latvia at 12.87 litres.
Lithuania came fourth with 12.10 liters, while Czechia completed the top five with 11.99 liters.
Germany ranked sixth at 11.84 litres, followed by Poland at 11.66 litres.
Belarus recorded 11.63 litres, Bulgaria 11.62 litres, while Austria rounded out the top 10 with 11.51 litres.
