The Nigerian Exchange Ltd. (NGX) All-Share Index and Market Capitalisation appreciated by 2.36 per cent and 2.40 per cent respectively to close the week at 246,992.44 points and N159.559 trillion.
This compares with 241,298.47 points and N155.826 trillion recorded in the previous week.
Consequently, equities market investors realised N3.733 trillion gain in the week under review.
Similarly, all other indices closed higher except the NGX Industrial Goods and NGX Sovereign Bond indices, which declined by 0.35 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, a total turnover of 4.360 billion shares worth N210.331 billion in 223,284 deals was traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange.
This compares with 2.507 billion shares worth N123.223 billion traded in 173,561 deals last week.
The Financial Services Industry led the activity chart with 3.580 billion shares valued at N88.635 billion traded in 99,488 deals.
This contributed 82.10 per cent and 42.14 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The Consumer Goods Industry followed with 188.039 million shares worth N15.343 billion in 24,518 transactions.
The third place was the Services Industry, with a turnover of 142.292 million shares worth N2.020 billion in 14,007 deals.
Trading in the top three equities, namely Fortis Global Insurance Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc and Access Holdings Plc, accounted for 2.287 billion shares worth N35.232 billion in 20,975 deals.
This contributed 52.46 per cent and 16.75 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
Fifty-six equities appreciated in price during the week, higher than 24equities in the previous week.
