SpaceTrade reinvents crypto play, targets payments, utilities, wider consumer adoption

SpaceTrade is repositioning its business beyond cryptocurrency trading, targeting everyday payments and utility services as it seeks to broaden digital-asset adoption among Nigerians.

The company’s new strategy, unveiled alongside a new brand identity and headquarters, will see the platform expand its services to include airtime purchases, electricity bill payments, gift cards and other everyday financial utilities.

The shift marks a broader attempt by the crypto-focused company to move digital assets from predominantly investment and trading activities into practical transactions used in consumers’ daily lives.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Emmanuel Amure, chief executive officer of SpaceTrade, said accessibility, education and practical use cases would form the foundation of the company’s new direction.

According to Amure, cryptocurrency adoption remains constrained by limited understanding among potential users, making it necessary to simplify access while demonstrating how digital assets can solve everyday financial needs.

The company’s strategy comes as Nigeria’s digital finance ecosystem continues to evolve, with cryptocurrency platforms increasingly operating at the intersection of digital payments, fintech and emerging technologies.
