Every Actor Set to Star In Snoop Dogg’s Biopic for the Big Screen

Add “producing his own life story” to the long list of projects that rapper Snoop Dogg has his hands in. The rapper is boarding the high-grossing music biopic train, following the success of 2015’s Straight Outta Compton and the year’s juggernaut Michael, with a biopic about the Dogg himself.

The Long Beach native’s story, simply titled Snoop, is slated for theatrical release on August 6, 2027, and will follow the ups and downs of his rise to fame. More than three decades after Doggystyle made him one of hip-hop’s most recognizable voices, Snoop is bringing his biopic to life as hip-hop is delivering a renaissance of its nineties and early-2000s greats, while also reflecting on where the next generation will take the music.

Snoop has interacted with a slew of people — in and out of the recording studio — shaping the man he has become today, which makes for an entertaining come-up story. Here are the actors who will help bring those tales to life, and why they are integral to his story.

Jonathan Daviss

Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss has bagged the lead role of Snoop Dogg. Of course, the rapper’s biopic promises to follow the rise of the Death Row Records heavyweight as he laid tracks that defined the West Coast rap scene through the 1990s and 2000s. Daviss, who certainly has the look, will also have to capture Snoop’s drawl and laid-back persona to truly embody his spirit.

Lauren London

London is set to play matriarch Beverly Tate, Snoop’s late mother. The rapper hasn’t been shy in praising her over the years for raising him, shouting her out for “bringing me up in church,” so we’ll get to see how his mother helped foster his love of music. Fans know this isn’t London’s…
