The pairing seems improbable on paper. But Turnstile have spent their career defying expectations, and inviting Elton John to reimagine “Seein’ Stars” is just the latest example of their willingness to push beyond the boundaries of their genre.

The Baltimore hardcore band released the collaboration on August 28, 2026, as part of NEVER ENOUGH: VERSIONS, a 22-track album that reimagines their Grammy-winning 2025 LP NEVER ENOUGH with a diverse range of artists . The list of contributors includes Hayley Williams, Blood Orange, Four Tet, Dying Fetus, and Julien Baker, but it’s John’s version of “Seein’ Stars” that has drawn the most attention . Kerrang! described it as a “magnificent expansion” that “steals the show” on the album .

The version combines Turnstile’s uncharacteristically poppy original with John’s trademark piano twinkling, with frontman Brendan Yates and John trading verses before their voices come together on the chorus . John, 79, is heard passionately belting the lyrics of a Baltimore hard rock band: “You left me folded in the dark” . The reimagined version continues further down the poppier path of the original, featuring additional piano and John’s vocals blended with Yates’s delivery .
