Osimhen drops to fifth in Africa’s most valuable footballers

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has dropped to fifth place in the ranking of Africa’s most valuable footballers, according to the latest Transfermarkt data.

Osimhen, valued at €75 million, was previously ranked Africa’s most valuable player in 2023 before falling to second place in 2025.

The Galatasaray forward has now been overtaken by four players, with Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande leading the ranking at €90 million.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi are all valued at €80 million, placing them ahead of Osimhen.

Osimhen is level with Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo, who occupies sixth position.

Osimhen maintains strong form

The drop in Osimhen’s market value comes despite his impressive start to the 2026/27 season with Galatasaray.

The Nigerian has scored four goals and provided one assist in two matches for the Turkish champions, continuing the prolific form that has established him as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently after his successful loan spell at the club and has quickly continued his goalscoring form.

The 2024 African Player of the Year remains one of the continent’s leading footballers, despite his lower position in the latest market-value ranking.

According to Transfermarkt, Osimhen is currently ranked 20th among the world’s most valuable players, with valuations influenced by factors including age, performance and market conditions.
