The Nigerian pension industry expanded in Q1 2026, with Net Asset Value (NAV) rising by ₦2.07 trillion to reach ₦29.52 trillion. Growth was primarily driven by a 38.09% revaluation rally in domestic equities and quarterly contributions amounting to ₦559.42 billion (a 38% QoQ increase).
Under PenCom’s Pension Revolution 2.0 agenda, benefit administration and digital compliance scaled significantly. However, persistent structural hurdles—such as an unfunded Personal Pension Plan (PPP) gap, slow data recapture, and asset concentration in Federal Government debt—continue to shape regulatory policy moving into Q2 2026.
