Meta has now introduced a refreshed wordmark for Instagram. It brings a new font and styling, while retaining elements of the original design. The updated wordmark is now visible at the top of Instagram’s mobile apps.

However, the new wordmark has been announced in posts on Instagram and Threads, by Adam Mosseri, Instagram head. According to him, the previous design had remained the same for a period of 10 years. It was due for a refresh.

Instagram head explains the new wordmark as cleaner as well as more modern. Also, the design at Instagram page shows the details about the whole idea behind the refreshed wordmark, including broader brand system.

Additionally, it took hundreds of iterations before the design team was able to settle on the new version. The whole idea is for the refreshed wordmark to reflect the creativity of Instagram’s community.
