Ademola Adeleke,Osun State Governor has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene directly to prevent opposition politicians from disrupting or hijacking collation centres during the ongoing collation of results in the state’s governorship election.
Speaking via a public statement, Governor Adeleke urged the president to instruct security agency chiefs deployed to the state to maintain absolute neutrality, safeguard the electoral process, and protect voters. He stated that reports of covert attempts by “desperate and rejected politicians” to compromise collation venues across Osun pose an immediate threat to peace and electoral integrity.
The governor emphasised that the presidency must reaffirm its commitment to democratic credibility by ensuring that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reflects the actual votes cast at polling units. His appeal follows earlier concerns regarding potential deviations from statutory collation protocols, including claims that results might bypass ward and local government tracking stages.
Adeleke stressed that the integrity of the ballot remains paramount to political stability and commercial confidence within the state. He urged citizens to remain vigilant as INEC continues tallying votes across the 30 local government areas.
