Samsung Galaxy A18 key specs revealed

Rumours suggest that in the coming weeks, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy A18. Meanwhile, the device’s key details have leaked, having shown on Geekbench.

The Geekbench database shows that the device, Samsung Galaxy A18, with model code SM-A185G, is powered by MediaTek’s MT6789 octa-core chip. This corresponds to the Helio G99 (the same chip that powers the Galaxy A17 4G).

In July, a rumour revealed the Galaxy A18’s 4G model will come with a MediaTek chip, while the 5G version will feature a Qualcomm chip at the helm. Also, the Galaxy A18 unit that ran the Geekbench test had 4GB RAM onboard and ran Android 17, (likely with One UI 9 on top). It scored 745 and 2,073 points in Geekbench’s single and multi-core tests, respectively.

However, the Galaxy A18 4G that surfaced on Geekbench has model code SM-A185G. There’s another 4G version with model designation SM-A185F, (its test firmware was spotted on Samsung’s European server). There’s the likelihood the model will come with the Helio G99 SoC under the hood.

Nevertheless, the Galaxy A18 4G’s processor remains the same as its predecessor, and the design won’t be completely different too. Leaks have shown there will be an Infinity-U notched display on the front as well as a vertically aligned triple camera setup on the rear.

Though the launch date for the Galaxy A18 hasn’t been revealed. According to rumours, the brand will first launch the Galaxy A18 4G, then months later, the Galaxy A18 5G will follow.

Then again, it’s expected that this month, the Korean brand will start the mass production of the 4G version. Reports have it that in August, it plans to produce 100,000 units of the Galaxy A18 4G, in September, 2.4 million…
