Rivers: Fubara reaffirms commitment to NYSC, charges corps members on integrity

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the success of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in the state, urging corps members to remain exemplary and committed to nation-building.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch B Stream II orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, in Tai Local Government Area.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Promise Oguzie, Governor Fubara charged the corps members to distinguish themselves through discipline, dedication and exemplary conduct while serving the people of Rivers State and the nation.

“I charge you to be exemplary, dedicated and committed in all you do. Take full advantage of all the camp programmes and activities to enrich yourselves,” the governor said.

In his welcome address, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe, described the posting of the corps members to the state as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Rivers State and Nigeria.

He urged them to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, discipline and the fear of God, particularly when called upon to serve as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.

A total of 3,584 corps members, comprising 1,421 males and 2,163 females, were sworn in by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, represented at the ceremony by Justice Godspower Aguma.
